Part Two – Agreement between Instrumental Music Teacher and St Philomena’s Catholic High School for Girls Parents/Carers
Music instrument lessons taken on school premises:-
1.     Parent/Carer submits a request for their daughter to learn a musical instrument with a request for part funding to Ms Lawson. If authorised, Mrs Waite (Head of Music), will arrange for the Parent/Carer’s contact details to be shared with the relevant Instrumental Music Teacher.

2.     Upon contact with the Instrumental Music Teacher, Parent/Carer to inform the Instrumental teacher of Pupil Premium status.
 
3.   It is the expectation that all students learning a musical instrument participate in at least one ensemble or group for performance at a school concert or recital evening, after a minimum of one year’s tuition or playing at Grade 2 and above.
 
4.      It is the responsibility of the Parent/Carer and student to:-
Regularly consult the timetable sent to you from the Instrumental Music Teacher
Inform the Instrumental Music Teacher should there be an absence.
*Please note there will be no refund of fees.*
Respond to all reminders of payment
Check with curriculum teachers if an exam or assessment will affect music instrumental lessons and negotiate alternative arrangements with the Instrumental Music Teacher
5.   It is the responsibility of the Instrumental Music Teacher to:-
Inform Parent/Carer if a lesson is missed without prior notification.
Provide a termly review informing Parent/Carer of the progress that students have made.

6.      To discontinue an agreement, Parent/Carer will provide the school with a term’s notice in writing given to both the Head of Music, Mrs Waite, and the Instrumental Music Teacher.

It is the responsibility of the Instrumental Teacher to:-
- Confirm receipt of a signed agreement from the student’s Parent/Carer.
- Construct and issue a timetable to be emailed to both the Head of Music and the student’s Parent/Carer.
- Maintain an accurate daily register which will be handed into Mrs Hensman (Attendance Officer) at the end of each day.
- Highlight to Parent/Carer if a student is absent for more than two consecutive lessons.
- Prepare students for music exams, should they so wish.
- Complete a termly review and submit to the Head of Department at the end of each term.
- Encourage all students to make a contribution to extra-curricular clubs and be involved in performance events.


It is the responsibility of the Parent/Carer and student to:-
